Aquatic center/therapy pool
The therapy pool has a list of features that make it your best choice for aquatic therapy in the Illinois Valley.
You can start with the fact that the water is kept at a constant 89 to 92 degree temperature as you walk into it down easy-to-manage four-inch steps laid out on a gentle incline.
If you can’t manage steps, a hydraulic lift is available to put you in and take you out of the pool. Once in the water, you’ll find a convenient railing to help you keep your balance.
Something for everyone
When you have 1,500 square feet of usable water space to work with, you can have a pool with enough room to meet many needs at one time. For example:
- One corner of the pool has an exercise deck equipped with three underwater exercise bikes and two underwater treadmills at different depths to add versatility. There is also an elliptical (step) machine. The deck is surrounded by a hand rail.
- At the other end of the pool, you’ll find jet seats where you can target flowing streams of water to soothe different regions of your body. And, there’s a hand jet that lets you aqua massage virtually any part of your body.
- If you are already at a good fitness level, the very end of the pool has a six foot six inch deep well where a Badu jet creates a water current that you can exercise and swim against.
- The aquatic rehabilitation experience is fully rounded out with exercise crosses and tethers that you can attach to your hands and feet to apply resistance to work against at an infinite number of positions. This allows you to take advantage of the decompressive yet supportive properties of water while being able to add resistance to strengthen the tissue surrounding a sore joint.
