Health promotions

More than 7,000 Illinois Valley residents took advantage of IVCH health promotions activities last year. These events included:

• Flu shot clinics.
• Healthy Heart cardiac risk factor screenings.
• Quarterly Stop Smoking classes.
• Monthly “Healthy Walkers Club” meetings at Peru Mall.
• Regularly scheduled visits to the senior adult high-rise living centers in Peru and LaSalle to provide free blood pressure and glucose checks.
• Monthly lipid profile screenings, HbA1c tests, and free blood pressure and glucose checks at the Illinois Valley YMCA in Peru.
• Regularly scheduled American Heart Association-endorsed CPR classes for the public and for health care providers.
• Health presentations for children.
• Tours of IVCH for school and youth groups.
