Having a baby?

IVCH wants to provide the best care for you and your baby before birth and during your hospital stay.

Because you have specific needs and concerns, you want choices about the way your baby is delivered. IVCH can offer you these choices. And whatever you choose, you can be assured that at IVCH you’ll have your baby in a warm, caring, family-centered atmosphere.

OB Options

Choices available to you when you have your baby at IVCH:

  • Individual care with your private physician or certified nurse midwife.
  • Labor, delivery, and recovery in one room.
  • Whirlpool tubs for relaxation during labor.
  • Ambulation during labor.
  • Private rooms complete with bath, phone and TV.
  • Your support people present during labor and c-section.
  • 24-hour anesthesia coverage.
  • Spinal/epidural analgesia for labor.
  • Spinal/epidural anesthesia for c-sections.
  • VBAC—vaginal birth after c-section with physician approval.
  • Mother/baby care at your bedside.
  • Individualized instructions on baby care and feeding.
  • Positive, helpful approach to breastfeeding.
  • Certified lactation consultant on staff.
  • Social service assistance.
  • Electronic infant security system.
  • Newborn photographs.
  • Celebration dinner.

Visiting hours

  • Fathers, siblings and grandparents: anytime until 9 p.m.
  • Others: 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m.
  • Children: visitation limited to siblings of the newborn.
