Responsible for the efficient and orderly registration of all patients,
according to specified procedures. Insures that accurate patient information
is collected and that patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures.
Responsible for verifying that physician orders are complete and that
the diagnosis provided and the testing ordered meet Medicare’s Local
and National Coverage Determinations prior to services being performed.
Operates a console telephone switchboard in order to relay incoming, outgoing,
and inter-office calls; monitors and pages emergency codes; performs various
hospital communications and clerical duties.
Minimum High School diploma or equivalent; Some college coursework preferred
Proficiency with working on the computer is required; Previous public contact
experience is preferred; Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred;
Aptitude for detailed work and accuracy; Good interviewing, listening
and speaking skills; Adept at interpreting both verbal and written communications;
Ability to concentrate and perform accurately in a high traffic area and
stressful environment; Excellent customer service skills with both internal
and external customers; Good analytical and problem solving abilities;
Ability to operate office equipment.
