Robert Fortney is the new chief nursing officer at Illinois Valley Community Hospital.
The new CNO came to IVCH from Arlington Heights, where he had been a vice
president and service line executive for Northwest Community Healthcare,
an independent, community-based health system. Before working for NCH,
Fortney had been the chief nursing officer and vice president for patient
care at Norwegian American Hospital in Chicago.
Fortney’s resume also includes positions with the Northwestern Medicine
Healthcare System, including director of patient care services from 2007-2013
and director of emergency services from 2009-2012. He was clinical nurse
manager of Northwestern’s neuro spine intensive care unit from 2004-2007.
Fortney has a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Cardinal Stritch
University in Milwaukee and a master’s degree from DePaul University
in Chicago.
“IVCH is a small-town community hospital with a mission and vision
that I believe in,” said Fortney. “I was born and raised in
a small town in northern Wisconsin, and it is nice to come back to an
area that seems familiar to me.”
