A fundraiser organized by an enterprising Peru five-year-old resulted in
a donation of toys to the Peru Primary Care medical practice and OSF Children’s
Hospital of Illinois in Peoria.
Charlotte Hughes, a kindergarten student at Northview School, is a Peru
Primary Care patient who recently had thumb surgery at Children’s
Hospital. She set up what she called a “hot coco stand” outside
her house over Christmas break and raised enough money to purchase toys
and kids’ books for both her local doctors’ office and the
Peoria hospital.
“Charlotte is just one of those girls who likes to help others,”
said Charlotte’s mom, Alicia Hughes, about her daughter’s
motivation to raise money for the toys and books.
