Orthopedic Surgeons in the Illinois Valley
Dr. Meier is an experienced, board-certified orthopedic surgeon who has
been with the IVCH orthopedic practice for more than two decades. Certified
by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, he has published and presented
a variety of scientific papers.
Dr. Meier earned his medical degree at Albany Medical College. After completing
a residency in general surgery at Rush Presbyterian–St. Luke's
Hospital in Chicago, he completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at
the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore. Dr. Meier's undergraduate
degree is from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY, where he
graduated magna cum laude. A resident of Peru, Dr. Meier is married and
has three children.
Dr. Mitchell is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who earned his medical
degree at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a
four-year residency in orthopedic surgery at Midwestern University–Chicago
College of Osteopathic Medicine that included work at Chicago's Northwestern
Memorial Hospital, Weiss Memorial Hospital and University of Chicago Hospital
as well as at Little Company of Mary Hospital and Columbia Olympia Fields
Hospital and Medical Center.
Dr. Mitchell is an Illinois Valley native and a graduate of LaSalle-Peru
High School. Before entering medical school, his graduated cum laude from
St. Norbert College in Wisconsin.
Dr. U.K. Sinha has had a long and successful career as an orthopedic surgeon
in Streator. He joined the IVCH medical staff in January 2016 and now
performs knee and hip replacement surgery, as well as general orthopedic
surgery, at IVCH in Peru.
Board certified and a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons,
Dr. Sinha also sees patients at IVCH Streator Orthopedics.
Renk is a board-certified physician assistant who has been part of the
IVCH orthopedics team since 1990. She has a master's degree in physician
assistant studies with a specialty in orthopedics from the University
of Nebraska Medical Center at Omaha. Prior to that, she graduated from
the physician assistant program at Wichita State University in Kansas.
She and her husband, Jim, have two children and live in Peru.
Pyszka earned her bachelor's degree in physician assistant studies
from Midwestern University in Downers Grove. She was board-certified in
1999 and has been part of the IVCH orthopedics practice since 2005. A
resident of Granville, Pyszka and her husband, David, have three children.
Wes Shaw moved to Peru from Warrensburg, Missouri, where he was on the
medical staff of Western Missouri Medical Center. He had previously served
in the U.S. Air Force for more than 20 years as a physician assistant
and orthopedic/surgical technician.
Shaw completed a master's degree in physician assistant studies from
the University of Nebraska Inter-Service Physician Assistant Program.
